Trevor White extension Joint

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help let me know what the type of joint Trevor uses on his Cues. I had a very nice one made and received it about a year ago, the reason I don't have an extension is for one I paid a lot of money and figured for an ext I wouldn't mind having a standard one and secondly Trevor himself told me that the joint is specific to him and him alone. I have to say I immediately thought that it would be hard for someone to have a one off screw thread but have only just got around to looking for one.
I came across this on eBay but it listed so many cues as being viable that after what Trevor said I had my doubts and as its from china I didn't thought I'd best try to determine if it will fit and if any of you guys have any better recommendations?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

This is the one I was looking at

Trevor White extension Joint

Hello all

Hey all, Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.

I have been a good standard pool league player for a good 8 years or so now but I am quite new to snooker and even now I don't get a lot of time to practice, that being the main way of improving maybe I'll just play for enjoyment as and when until the babies are a bit older :)
So I'm at a pretty basic level, I've played a few games a week for about 10 months, managed a 37 once but that feels like a one off rather than a standard. Gotta say though that even with maybe an average of 2-3 games per week I am improving.
I had a single lesson with Stuart Carrington at the back end of last year to work on my stance mostly and a few weeks later he beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in the German masters so I felt my £15 was well spent and I certainly approach the table much more confidently though that being said, potting is my weakness, for some reason I prefer a cut over a straight shot (I know, I'm doomed to failure based on that approach) theres just something about the corner pockets, particularly black end and blacks in particular that I struggle with. I once hit about 20 blacks in and felt a bit better that day so I guess thats the key but with the little time I have I tend to revert to tactics, thats the side of the game I'm very confident with, I just seem to find the length and the line more often than not and then cherry pick the easy chances before running off to baulk to hide again.
Without a doubt that is playing to my strengths but sometimes I wonder if I'm doing my break building confidence much good by not just going for it? Though so long as I feel I'm improving month to month I guess I'm doing OK.
Anyway that's me and I have to say that I've just had a quick browse of the forums and I think I can learn a lot here :)
When I get around to it I guess finding a few good ideas of break building drills will be my priority, getting time to implement them will be my next challenge Lol

Problem to change email adress

I post this same text few days ago in newbies & introductions section. I got answer that I should ask same question in here.

So here it is: I have a problem. I tried to change the e-mail address. I managed to changed it but I can't read conversations anymore. I can't anymore see my account. I put the administrator an email but I have not been answered. I had no other choice than to make a new user account. Do anyone have similar problem?

I changed my email adress last Friday and problem is still on.

Q & A Sessions ......the same answer

With all these Q & A sessions , virtually all the players' are saying the same thing .

' Only take 32 players' to the venue for the overseas tournaments ' .

I wonder if Mr Hearn will take notice of this , think he said previously that he wanted more players' to sample what it was like at the venues .

Surely can't be cost effective for World Snooker or the players' taking that many abroad .

The prodigal son returns.

Seemed like a funny title even though I feel more like Nelson Mandella must have.

8 yrs served in exile for what somewhere during that time I discovered was supposed to be a two week ban for expressing my opinion.

Ah well it's just history of no importance now forget it.

Thank you new management.

Does anyone know about glass cues?

My great Grandad had a glass snooker cue that has been passed down the generations of my family and none of us know anything about the cue. I am hoping that someone on here may be able to shed some light on the subject: history, about them and where they came from. I will post pictures and will try to respond to anyone that comments as promptly as possible.

Hi Guys n Girls.

I was originally looking for some info on building a snooker room in the garden (Which i found on here!) fantastic job!. I will be gettin me one of those but theres heaps of other interesting stuff am lookin forward to delving into.
I played a lot of snooker from age 13-16 keeping all my dinner money for the club after school, but since joining the Navy and working on oil rigs its hard to keep the practice up. Now im right back into it and playing competitions up in Aberdeenshire. I love the Game!

Cracking forum guys.

Foul while Snookered by touching black, how many points deduction?

Hi gurus

This evening while in a practice game with my sparring partner, I was snookered. the ball to hit is the yellow. As you will see from the picture , I was snookered by a touching black ball. I did not manage to break the snooker, completely missing the yellow.

Question is: how many point deduction? 4 or 7? I was told by my partner that it should be a 7 point deduction since the white is already touching the black ball. I disagreed and said that it should be a 4 pt deduction. Can anyone offer the right answer?

We don't use the miss rule in our friendly games.

Thanks!!

Highest Break Question

Story lads could someone help me clear this up :D

Right my embarrassing HB is 36 made years ago but for the last 9 months ive really been trying to improve seriously and am very close to beating it

so since its 36 am I a 30+ break player ?

if I beat it in practice on a routine does that then count as my HB ?

And if say i get a 41 am i then a 40+ break player ??

And I play frames alone in practice if i beat it then does it count as my HB ?

High or Low Tip Meaty or Wafer

Watching the pros noticed there is a big difference in tip height it can range from a very meaty tip height with a very pronounced burnished side wall to a almost wafer thin tip sort of blending in with no side wall is this just a matter of choice or are there any advantages or disadvantages with different tip heights.

POOL Question

In World Rules pool... a player breaks off and pots a yellow. He nominates yellows and before he plays a stroke he commits a foul. The (qualified!) referee calls 'open table, two visits'. The non-offender comes to the table and pots a yellow, splitting all the balls nicely in the process. The original offender pipes up and says' 'but I'm yellows'. What happens next?

Now the referee was wrong to call the 'free table'. Because the breaker potted off the break and nominated the colour he potted, then he was yellows, regardless of the foul he committed. The non-offender was, therefore reds when he came to the table.

The player can't now be expected to switch to reds and the offender surely can't be left with the advantage of having had his opponent pot one of his balls. So, the two options are (IMHO) to replace the balls to where they were, or, if that is not feasible, to re-start the frame. Any thoughts?

New Coaching Book 147 Routines

My local snooker coach Andy Highfield has been working on a book of 147 routines with his fellow coach David Horrix. I'll be getting my hands on a copy when I get chance to see Andy. Just thought I'd post a link if anybody is interested as there are not many snooker books out there. From chatting to Andy it's routine based rather than technique and basics. Apologies if I've posted in wrong section or broken any rules.

Second successuve national title

A GOSPORT snooker ace has capped a remarkable “turning point” year in his green-baize career by clinching his second successive national title.

Mark Lloyd, who won the 2014/15 English Under-16 Championship, stepped up a level and proved his class by winning this season’s under-18 title.

The 16-year-old defeated Leeds cueman James Pearson 6-2 in the final at Cueball Derby.

“I still can’t believe it,” he admitted. “This year has been a turning point for me.”

England international Lloyd, who is based at Stoke Snooker Club, Gosport, took the first three frames. The pair shared the next four before Lloyd wrapped up the eighth with a break of 61.

“It seemed to be flowing nicely,” he said. “The fourth frame was a little bit shaky for me but the mid-session interval came at the right time to allow me to regroup.

“(In the final frame) I thought of it as a practise session position in all fairness, allowing my cueing and experience to carry me through.

“I was hoping for a century to finish the match but I was just relieved that I had won the match, especially having limited practice due to my exams.

“Hopefully, I can build on this further. I’m just hoping there is some life left in me to continue to progress.

“I’d like to say thank you to everyone for all the support they have given me.”

The past 14 months have indeed been a “turning point” for the talented teenager. After winning the under-16 final in May last year, he travelled to Malta in January and won the European Under-17 Snooker Championship, an open tournament for young players worldwide.

Back home, he is currently lying 20th in his second season on the EASB Premier Junior Tour. Last month, he clinched the rankings and championship double on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour and chalked up a first century break in tournament play on finals day.

On the same day as Lloyd was crowned national under-18 champion, 12-year-old Jamie Wilson, from Havant, was beaten 5-0 by the phenomenal Ryan Davies, from Oldham, in the final of the English Under-14 Championship.

Rule Question

Good Day, I was wondering if it is a foul if while addressing the white I dig my fingers into the cloth while addressing the white thus moving the cloth which caused the green to move quite a bit because it fell into a spotting hole in the cloth. I called a foul because I seen the green move, he said I did not touch the green, I said it did not move on its own. I tried to find the answer in the rules but could not. Thank You,,,

Snooker brexit

They're talking about how leaving Europe will affect sports on Sky Sports News.

They're saying that if we leave Europe , they might play less European tournaments. Any truth to this? They didn't really go into any detail. They spent more time discussing how it would affect Rugby League.

ADR147 Cue Oil.

Having recently tested the oil, I can say that it soaks into the wood well and evaporates quickly (not much excess to wipe away after 10mins) it cleans the cue removing the build up of dirt and chalk on the shaft, leaving the cue very smooth with a natural lustre. Perfect to maintain and clean your previously oil finished cue.

Rules question :)

Player A plays a shot and leaves a red ball sitting on the edge of the top pocket and is covered and player A walks away. Then player B (me) is snookered. I take my time to work out how to get out of the snooker. I play off 2 cushions. The cue ball is heading towards the red - looking real good - cue ball is just about to hit red but the red ball falls into pocket just before cue ball hits it and the cue ball follows it in.

So what happens? Is it just bad luck and costs a 4 point foul.

Or is it replaced and the cue ball replaced too?

Damien Hurst/Michael Myers 147 Paintings

Hello everyone!

I have recently stumbled upon two paintings that I must have! I'm clearly not looking for the originals, however, I am wondering if there are any canvass prints for sale anywhere?

The two in question are from:

Damien Hurst showing Ronnie's fastest 147 (Iopanoic Acid)

The other is from Michael Myers showing the same game.

If anyone know if smaller, canvass prints are available, please let me know!!

Hi folks,

Was paying a visit to our dear ADR ebay stor this afternoon, looking for some tips but was pretty confused by the amount of tips named "Blue Diamonds". To me there had always be one single brand using that name but now I can see Brunswick, Cannon, etc. using also that title.

So which ones are the real orignals??
And alos, how would you rank them to standard Elkies? there supposed to be similar but....now?

Thanks!

Long time reader, first time poster :)

Hi everyone,

Belgium here!

Been reading for a while now on the forum. I've Playing snooker for several years but very occasional (4 or 5 times a year). Recently started to go a lot more (also because it's the only way to get out of the house ;)) and thought it would be a good idea to buy a cue of my own.

When reading here it became clear to me that buying a cue isn't as simple as i thought at first and can become an addiction as well :) First I was convinced of buying a new cue but after reading (and not being sure what the right specs are for me) i started looking at second hand cues.

Tomorrow I have an appointment to go and look at a 3/4 Aeon cue. Bit excited to be honest. I like the cue in the picture, hope the same in real life and hope it isn't warped. Can buy the cue + extensions for 50 euro (+/- 40 pound) and the original triangular case at 25 euro (+/- 20 pound). I guess when it is in OK shape and feels OK in my hand this isn't a bad start?

Now I have to try and post 10 messages to be able to post the pictures on here if I where to buy it off course. Really curious what all the MUCH more experienced cue buyers/makers on here have got to say.

Love the site btw, loads of info!

Grtz and hope to post a new thread within a few days saying I bought the cue!

Edit: It does not work!

Has anyone else been faced with an empty text box when attempting to edit a post. Three times to day for me so far. Why is the code in TSF so dodgy? Having to rewrite submissions because EDIT does not work wastes time and is a real pain.

Mods; get on the case please! This has been going on for YEARS!

Rolling up to a ball, is this a foul shot??

Probably the most under rated skill needed in your safety game by far and it can be very challenging to get it spot on and right.

Now i was watching this coaching video with Barry Stark.....

Go straight to 1:20mins in and Barry plays a shot with his Cue on the cloth right under the Cue ball and just lifts it up vertically to just touch the object ball thus avoiding a dreaded push shot from that range. Now is this a legal shot?? Barry says it is but i reckon it would get called a foul in a lot clubs.

Thoughts??

Correct mindset / state of mind to maximise performance

Hi everyone, id like to talk about the psychological side of the game.

I am sure you have all been there when you struggle to pot the simplest of balls. You are getting down on the shot and your mind cant focus and you miss. You feel tense inside and do not deliver the cue properly. Your timing is all out and the game feels very difficult. I am sure you all know exactly what I mean.

Then all of a sudden, you start playing better. You are suddenly "in the zone" and potting balls becomes easy. Your mind is focussed, you are relaxed, you can see the shot clearly and you are cueing well. Its like someone had flicked a switch and you are a totally different player.

This is the frustration I have with the game.

I play twice a week against a friend. We are both keen players who are eager to improve but get so frustrated with the lack of consistency.

We feel that us playing good or bad is purely in our heads.

Do you guys have any tips or tricks to help us relax and play more consistent snooker?

Handicapping procedure Open / Handicap events

Please help our club,we have only a handful of reasonable players but the handicaps are out of control. Having to give 60 to 80 start regularly
is a common occurrence and this is stymieing the whole clubs positive play that is 60 handicappers playing safety shots. .Any proven handicapping systems most welcome.

Home Page issue

Over the last few days, if I try to right-click a recent topic on the TSF Home Page, it just treats it like a left-click and opens the topic in the same (Firefox) browser tab. It doesn't do it on topics from the forums listings, or on any other site. Any suggestions?

Adr 147 cue and cue craft black aluminium case

Hi everyone.
Reluctantly selling my cue. Used about 4 times in total.
Its an Adr 147 professional cue (although badge is misspelt as professinal!)
3/4 cue, hand spliced, extra splices (possibly snake wood?), tip around 9.75 mm, think it's 17.25 Oz roughly, sorry to be vague but not used the cue for over a year and am unable to play due to health reasons.
Lovely cue, hardly used, comes with mini butt, in cue craft black aluminium case, has adr black tip, soft, used once for about half hour.
Reluctant sale.
Looking for £150 for cue and case with £15 p and p
Will hopefully add pics if I can and probably post on eBay tomorrow

Mac Chambers Cues

Hi all,

I am currently on the look out for any Mac Chambers cues in the hope that a few owners may be willing to part with their cues. I am not fussed on the age or condition.

The reason I am after Mac's cues specifically is that this Summer marks 10 years since he sadly passed away. My Grandad's cues were second to none and whilst our family has a few kicking about and we all have a cue each, I want to bring a few back in and try and create a display in my new house.

Thanks in advance.

Matt.

Short Cueing - or is it just Normal Cueing?

So, JVC asking if anyone had a 59" cue, yes, 59"! It got me thinking. The common view is 58" for 6'ters. 57" for shorties at 5'8". and 59" for 6'4". It all depends doesn't it; on stance, arm length and most importantly of all cueing technique and grip. If one is adopting the boxer stance there is no doubt that someone will employ a longer butt hand to cue hand, it's just how you spread your body and arms more from the boxer. They'll need a longer cue. Foot-in-line is a different kettle of fish. We're sighting, cueing and concentrating down the line of one peg, canceling the other foot, certainly less weight on the other foot. And cueing less across the chin as well.

I've been reducing my bridge to ball for a few years now, and I'm down to about 8-9 inches. And today, I went another inch up the butt, and the old hand is nearly ahead of the chamfer so guess I'm only using 55" of my 58" cue and I'm 6'. Am I short cueing, who knows. It just feels normal now. Perversely (according to your club player's mentality of holding the end of the butt and maximising whack) cue power is up a notch (again!) and accuracy up as well. I'm minded of Selby's short bridge to ball. I remember selling a gorgeous maple to a friend because I felt it an inch short, it's probably two inches too long now!

I suppose the old line holds, that whatever your BtB, whatever your cue length, grip, stance, arm length, your cue arm should make no more than a 90 degree angle to the cue. Anything less and you're taking the cue inside the shot line and jabbing, anything much more and you take the cue back, take it offline to the outside, bring it back it and don't cue straight. But I'm also minded by Ronnie saying we should work on reducing our BtB to improve accuracy and reduce error; the grand master knows his beans. For me, reducing to 8-9 inches, with my grip, set-up, stance, etc, yields 55" of cue being used and 3" of overhang. How about you?

Straight cueing is nirvana.

(Chardonnay and football on the other screen; apologies if the english ain't da mustard tonight. Nice one mate, quality mate, cheers mate, lol)

How to Get A Divorce

A) have a wife who turns into a homicidal maniac whenever a new cue is delivered to the house

B) mention to Andrew Ramsay that you are thinking of switching from ash to maple.

C) ask Andrew Ramsay if he would kindly send ONE maple cue so that I can try it out.......

D) have a TNT delivery man deliver a VERY heavy cue shaped package with TEN, yes, TEN maple cues!!

E) obtain the services of a very good divorce lawyer and hide from homicidal wife!!
