Playing American Pool table with snooker cue?

Is it 'bad' for your snooker cue to play on a 9x4.5 American Pool table with the bigger/heavier balls?

I'm playing in a 9-ball tournament tonight and the bar cues are dreadful, although thicker.

West Midlands/Black Country Cue Makers

Bonjour petit pois!

I've been looking to buy a decent cue for years now and have always wanted a Parris handmade to my spec.

But recent protectionist movements in the US and with the Brexit vote, I thought I'd look closer to home.

Is there a reputable cue maker in the West Midlands or even better still in the Black Country does anyone know?

Much appreciated for any replies.

need some tips not tips

hello im new here, let me tell you guys alittle bit about myself
live in australia, im 25 and highest break 50, been playing for about 6 years on/off now
saw coach 3 years ago, and this year i saw my coach like 5 times now

i have improved alot but i am not consistent with my breaks, although sometimes i feel that i can easily make 100's ( sometimes i feel so confident but ...... )
recently i have changed my cuing acceleration and it seems to have changed my game completely ( improved), but it does not work all the time, and i miss some random shots way off the pocket, after featuring, i pull the cue back very slow in a straight line, and i just dont accelerate suddendly, first few inches of the cue i play very very slow, and then start to accelerate the cue through , however this has improved my game alot, specially straight shots, even long pots, but only straight shots. when it comes to angle shots i dont see much difference, when i play long blue, i can screw/follow 7 outta 10 .

the other thing i try these days as my routine i focus on the grip but only after the shot, i mean once i hit the shot, i want my forfinger and thumb to be straight towards the line of the aim ( mark williams) is a good example, if you search his pics, this has improved my long and deep scews heaps, however im still struggling with big breaks

any tips? specially with the cue acceleration method?
the way i practice that is , that i practice on the table with no ball, and as soon as i pull the cue back, i make it very very slow to accelerate my cue ( just for practice ) , i practice as if its slow motion, i pull the cue back , then i keep watching my cue as every mm of my cue goes through ( specially first mm's of my cue lenght)

dont know if i shouldnt be doing this, but it has helped me to look if im delivering in a straight line and also control the acceleration
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaM_C_XQUkk
now if you watch ding here, specially 0:53 look at his cue tip , first few inches pushing very slow, then accelerate

Mac Cue Review

IMG_0472.JPGIMG_0471.JPGIMG_0470.JPG

Just received my Mac cue from Richy and can not fault the cue one bit!!

This is probably the best cue I personally have owned and I've had had a few haha.

The shaft he choose for me is perfect with the right amount of flex that I can feel every shot and also with great chevrons. The overall finish of the cue is great as well.

Anybody looking for a great cue without a doubt contact Richy on facebook and I can tell you now you won't go wrong with him. Goes out of he's way to help as much as possible.

Communication

I know we all moan about the lack of communication from a certain cue maker [ i'm waiting on a cue as well ,but it turns up when it turns up ] .

But it also applies to others .

I asked a Cue Maker for a rough estimate of a manufacturing time for a leather case last week . Still waiting for a reply .

So i contacted another case maker .......got a reply the next day and the deal has been done .

If the original people replied , i would have gone with them and their case was £100 more expensive .

Then i've also ordered a new cue [ Wright Cues ] and the communication has been excellent .

Cushion questions

Two questions:

When we look at the cushion, is the whole of the green section (the bit covered in cloth) all rubber, or is it another material faced with rubber?

Does the rest of the cushion (the wooden part) have a name? I'm thinking rail, but I know this is a general US term for cushion so I'm not sure.

Trying to cue in a straight line

First of all my english is not 100% so if any problem please tell me
So i play pool sometimes, i have a pool table to practice at my other house, maybe when i get a little better i will play snooker, but i have this problem i never noticed until some days ago, and it happens everytime i play a shot. Even if i do the movement really slowly it happens like naturally every time, i am right handed, and when i play the shot the cue at the end of the stroke goes right, and i play a little bit left handed as well and with the left hand the same thing happens ( but the cue goes left of course ). When i play the shot i do a long movement, with a big backswing and my hand finishes in my chest. i'm saying this because i have seen players that do a really small movement with their grip arm, but i believe in order to play screwback shots and such you need to have this big straight swing with you arm right?
I don't know if anybody had this problem, and i can't actually figure out right know why this happens, i noticed that if i bend my arm normally without the cue my hand kind of finish sideways (happens to everybody of course) when my arm is totally bent, which i think that might be what i need to fix, but yeah i'm having problem to find a stance or what i need to cue straight.
I will appreciate if anybody had that problem as well and could help me out.

Leather case refurb

Evening all,

I recently purchased a Glover one piece leather cue case. Unfortunately it isn't in great condition. There are scuffs at each end and lots of scratches and scuffs on the leather covering.

Does anyone know someone who recovers leather cases incuding replacing the handle etc.? The interior is fine.

Many thanks

Hi from Belgium

Figure I probably best introduce myself as well...

28-year-old from Belgium who has been playing snooker seriously for about two years now. Sports writer who fortunately gets to write about the game quite frequently (although I've yet to get a press pass for the Crucible--maybe one day). Currently plays with a £40 BCE cue that's more plastic than wood and requires me to chalk my hand for a good 15 seconds before it will even slide, but that's what you get when there's no cue-shop anywhere near and you can't test the bloody thing before you buy. Looking to treat myself to a new weapon for my birthday, so I'll probably be lurking on the forum for a few weeks and furiously look up any topic on brands, cue makers and the likes.

Cheers

Hi TSF

Hi!

Just popping in to say hello! Seems like a great place, wish I knew about it earlier!

A little bit about me:

I'm from Telford in Shropshire, I have followed snooker since the early 90's but kind of fell out of love with watching it during the mid 2000's whilst I was at university, I still played here and there but not a great deal. I have recently gotten back into watching snooker on TV and realised how much I've missed it, a lot of new names and faces since I properly used to watch it!

Growing up I've always been a pool player, playing at pubs and clubs whilst at university (it was more accessible/social compared to snooker). I would say I'm pretty good, above average on a UK pool table, can usually clear a table more often than not if given a chance thanks to spending pretty much all my time in the SU.

Over Christmas I was asked if I wanted to go play snooker so jumped at the chance as it had been years, maybe roughly since 2006 since I last played snooker. I was absolutely awful! I mean I couldn't get into double figures every time I made any kind of score, it was really frustrating especially knowing I'm decent at pool and usually have a good eye for angles. Certain shots seemed fine, I knew what I needed to do, I'd get in my stance and line it up and the ball would go nowhere near the pocket it seemed like the balls had a mind of their own! lol.

Since that day I've been determined to get better at snooker, I can't accept being poor at anything so I've decided to start regularly going on weekends, working on my technique, stance, action, pretty much starting from scratch for snooker as I feel it's a completely different beast compared to pool.

Telford isn't the greatest for social activity so we pretty much only have the one snooker club here, it's close by so that's a plus, I think once I get into the swing of things and get better I would like to maybe join some kind of league somewhere close by if they exist.

Hope you are all well!

Take Care

Slow cushions - suggestions?

Sorry to bore you all with another cushion question ...

Two years ago I "treated" my table to a new set of steel block cushions, driven by the hope to improve playing conditions.
Wasn't really convinced by the speed of the bounce, but kept a positive attitude. The next summer, I had an experienced English table fitter over take a look at the rubbers and have his general opinion - which was that there was nothing wrong, the rubbers being Northern and that's about it.

I know that the current environmental conditions the room provides are not really good, as I can't keep up permanent heating, but are there any means to get the cushions "up to speed"?

Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks :)

Object ball or line of aim?

A lot of coaches will tell you to keep your eyes on the object ball when delivering the cue. Do you guys focus on the object ball itself or the line of aim? Logically I'd say the line of aim would be more beneficial as you can confirm that the white is going down the line you intended.

Miss Rule "...could be on..."

As discussed on The Masters 2017 thread, concerning ROS playing the snookered Yellow in Frame 10 and not getting Warned after the second Miss.

Some conjecture there should have been a Warning, others not.
So to summarise:

For clarity of the situation here is a screenshot and link to YouTube.
https://youtu.be/ViPLNDl_0lY?t=2h33m25s

Masters 2017 Round 1 Ronnie O'Sullivan v Liang Wenbo Frame 10
What happened:
1. ROS pots a Red, Cue-Ball ends in the back of the pack.
2. Black is clearly available.
3. ROS nominates Yellow which is snookered by the reds completely.
4. First attempt ROS misses the Yellow, "F&M" called, Cue-Ball replaced.
5. Second attempt again ROS misses the Yellow, "F&M" called, Cue-Ball replaced.
6. Third attempt ROS hits the Yellow.

Now, this has raised some questions due to the wording of the Miss rule, specifically:
"(d) After a miss has been called under paragraph (c) above when there was a clear path in a straight line from the cue-ball to a ball that was on or could have been on, such that central, full ball, contact was available (in the case of Reds, this to be taken as a full diameter of any Red that is not obstructed by a colour), then:..."

"...or could have been on..."

We have two groups of view to these words and what should happen.

Group A are saying, regardless that ROS nominates Yellow, he should have been warned after the second Miss, as the Black "could be on".

Group B are saying that the nominated Yellow is the only ball on, and the Black (and all other colours) is no longer a ball that could be on, and NO warning is issued because no full contact is available on the Ball On (Yellow). The "could be on" wording covers the scenario of multiple Reds where one Red is Full contact available but the player plays a Red that is not full ball contact available.

Again the wording of the Foul and a Miss rule has caused confusion, so discussion to understand it and hopefully clarify the rule for all is always good :)

I have sent this question to a couple of referees I know (one on the Rules Committee and one a long-time pro ref, instructor and assessor).

Quick Fun Trivia Question

What is the fewest amount of balls a player would need to pot to win a frame of snooker....Simple??
Quick Fun Trivia Question

Hi from Ninja cues

Hi all,
I have been doing repairs for year's and started making cues.
Have a page on fb if anyone wants to see any of my work.
My cues are all hand made and even use one of my own.
Have a few friend's I'm making cues for, so if you fancy one or looking to get someone done on your cue.
Do ask.

Cue Joints

I am trying to write an article on all types of cue joints so people have something to refer to when trying to identify them.

I have a few pictures (Parris, Woods, Peradon, Cannon) but if anyone has any pictures of their cue joint other than these then I would be grateful if they could send it to info@snookercrazy.com or post it on this thread, either way it would help.

Cheers

Good books on positional play

Hi,

Are there any good "reference" books on positional play? I'm interested only in books that deal with the break-building and positional aspects of the game.

Thanks

The miss rule... again.

I thought I understood the miss rule - at least at a very basic level, but a couple of incident today had me and my dad debating.

When Ronnie tried to swerve around the blue in an attempt at a plant (other reds were available) and caught the blue in passing, a five point penalty was awarded as you'd expect, but when no miss was called the commentator explained this was because it was simply a foul shot.

Later on Ronnie was tucked up behind the brown (snookered on all reds) and in a similar fashion fouled the brown in trying to swerve around it. On this occasion a miss was called. The obvious difference in the two situations is that with the latter Ronnie was snookered, but the result was the same, namely that he fouled the ball he was trying to swerve around.

I suppose what I'm asking is why was no miss called when he fouled the blue in his attempt to swerve around it?

I believe that the top 8 money earners of the season who finish outside the top 64 at the season's end will retain their tour cards. Does anyone know why the normally reliable snooker.or list only has 7 such players highlighted? there is no one in position 6?

How well know is Mike Wooldridge cues ?

I have 2 Mike Wooldridge cues, a Black Legend & a Macassar Legend. Both are with traditional flat shape butt.
I'm trying to sell away the Macassar Legend & order another cue from Mike which is round butt.
I recently found the round butt cues are with better grip feeling....
To me, Mike's cue is one of the best.

Thus I posted on FB pages my Macassar Legend for sale & look what comment I got !!
Is it because of not much PRO players using Mike's cues thus he is not well know ? I don't think so..................

Free Ball Penalty Confusion?? Please Help

Two friends of mine (player A and player B) were playing a frame last night against each other when player A fouled and 4 points was awarded to player B. As player B could not hit the final remaining red as he was totally snookered on it ( the red was tucked in behind both the black and yellow balls by the black spot), he elected to play the pink as a free ball. He missed the pot and the pink came to rest near to the side cushion and the white was central near to the pink spot. Player A then approached the table and called a foul on player B. As he couldn't directly hit the red as it was behind the yellow and black, his only route to hitting the red was to play off the side cushion, however the pink ball ( which was the previous free ball chosen by player A) obstructed the path to play this shot. Player A claims that as the pink is preventing him from playing the only shot available to him to hit the red then he should be awarded 6 points and a free ball awarded to him?? Apparently he has since consulted with an official WPBSA official regarding this rule and claims he is right ... I am totally baffled by this, I would appreciate your feedback.

Jimmy White's aiming routine

I've noticed that Jimmy White's pre-shot routine always involves aiming the cue downwards at the bottom of the cue ball before taking the shot. Is this part of a well-known aiming technique of just a mannerism of his?

Practicing on small 6ft table

Hi all,

I live in a small apartment and I am considering buying a small 6ft table for training purposes. Unfortunately I cannot buy anything larger due to space limitations. My question is: will this actually help in improving my game or will it have detrimental effects given the smaller dimensions of the playing area and the smaller weight of the cue?

My main problem is that I cannot go down to the snooker hall very often due to my working schedule, and I would need something to practice with at home.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks a lot!

Places to buy gear in Ontario, Canada ?

Can anyone recommend a well-stocked store in southwestern Ontario? I'm in the market for a long extension and a case for my 3/4 cue. Yesterday I drove nearly two hours each way to the nearest store, after having called twice to explain what I was after, and was very disappointed. 'Nuff said about that.

I'd prefer to shop in person so I can see, and try, before I buy.

Thanks in advance,

Stance Problem

Hi all,

First post on the snooker forum and was wondering if anybody could help.

My problem is stance.

Sometimes I can get down on the shot and it all falls into place and I can pot pretty much any ball (definitely the short to medium range pots) on the table and when I feel like this I can cue up and down the spots no problem with a lot of speed.

But then sometimes (most of the time) I get down on the shot and I feel really unbalanced and when I get this feeling I can't even pot half ball blacks off the spot and they are consistently missing to the same spot (until I start whacking it out of pure frustration).

The only way I can possibly pot them is by hitting them at snails pace and looking at the cueball to conciously make the cue go through straight.

The balance feels mostly on my right straight leg but when I am in the correct position it feels even.

When in the uncomfortable stance my grip hand arm hangs in towards my body but when in the good stance it is dead straight.

Also, in the uncomfortable stance if I feed the cue through really really really slow with my eyes closed the cue goes to the left when I hit the right point on my chest but sometimes to the right if I drop my elbow/shoulder slightly too early and the cue doesn't stay parallel and cue under my body (I know I need to get rid of the latter but thought I would mention it).

This also makes sense when cueing up and down the spots as they return to the left or right to a consistent position.

The things I have checked are:

- Bending from the hips and not being scrunched up
- Hips are swung far out to the left
- Right foot is on the line of aim
- Right foot pointed 45 degrees to the right
- Left foot pointed down the line of aim
- Left foot slightly in front of the right
- Feet roughly shoulder width apart
- Standing same distance from table
- Back of cue is above the nipple to the right
- Everythings in the same position on the cue (bridge/grip/chin/chest)
- I always get down on the shot the same

I feel like the problem is the arm not being straight but If I simply straighten it whilst in the uncomfortable stance it's just the same so I am thinking if I sort the stance it will sort the arm and then be ok.

I have read that your weight should be on the left but can't figure out how you can get the weight onto your left hand side whilst keeping your chin on the cue. It just feels weird when I try getting down on the shot like this.

Another thing worth mentioning when I am down on the shot if I aim approx 15-20cm to the left then it feels relatively comfortable again. That to me says I am not swinging the hips far enough but I have already tried that and it feels the same.

I know I should go and see a coach and I do intend too but would have to travel as I can't find anyone local to me and am not in a position to do so at the moment.

Can anyone think what I might be doing wrong to be so unbalanced from one day to the next (or even one shot to the next)?

Emergency App in Case You Have a Serious Health Problem

I thought I would share this great app for any of you who have serious health conditions or have friends and relatives you have.

It is for an Android phone (I think iphones do them as well).

The link is here - click here.

Once you have filled in all the easy details it works like this.

If you have a medical emergency i.e. heart attack, you only have to press one button on the mobile and the screen asked you if you want to send an emergency call (pre-programmed in) or emergency messages........you then click which.......the actions literally takes 2 seconds.

The emergency messages button sends help messages to your pre-picked contacts (i.e. wife) and automatically also sends them your exact position via gps so they know there's a problem and exactly where you are.

On the mobile you will already have input all your statistics i.e. heath conditions, medication, Cardiologist etc so even if you just pass out and are found this comes up straight away as the mobile power button is turned on.

People sometimes have ICE and emergency stuff on their mobile but emergency services cannot access it because the mobiles have a lock, this nice little app works around that.

I just thought I'd share it as in life you never know when you or others may need it and over the years and have seen and heard of people who have been really ill (some died) that this may have gotten them help.

It seems worth a read to me..............the app is free.

It'll be interesting to know what you've come across with your own interests, but I'm sure you can guess some of the interesting ones I've seen. There's one on the Bulgarian gypsies, before you cry the Bulgarian government hasn't helped or neglected these minorities you should know that Bulgaria has a universal education system as well as healthcare. The block of flats in this documentary were paid for by the Bulgarian government as brand new and fully furnished. This is the thanks they got for trying to integrate them, they burnt the doors and looted everything else, it's mental and comical as they chose this self destruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2LvcKeot-k This block of flats has since been closed down, I think it was either in Sliven or Yambol.

First Gold Tour win at the age of 13

BASINGSTOKE’S phenomenal young snooker player Mickey Joyce has collected his first winner’s trophy on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour.

The historic 2-1 victory over Callum Browne in the final of the fifth leg came nearly six years after he made his Bronze Tour debut at the age of seven.

Browne, who won the corresponding tournament last year, broke the back of the opening frame at Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth, with a run of 36.

Joyce wrapped up a low-scoring second on the brown and left his opponent from Trowbridge needing snookers with two reds left in the decider.

“It feels good to do it,” said the 13-year-old. “I had the momentum (in the third frame) and I knew I was going to win that.”

Reflecting on his 2-1 last-four success over rankings leader and English Under-18 Champion Mark Lloyd (Gosport), Joyce added: “It was a good win against Mark. We both didn’t play well and he didn’t deserve to lose.”

Joyce made his Cuestars debut six weeks before his eighth birthday. The Bell’s Decor-sponsored event in Bournemouth was his 40th ranking tournament.

He won the Bronze Tour championship play-off in 2013 and the Silver Tour rankings title the following year. The furthest he had previously got on the Gold Tour was the semi-finals in Coulsdon last month.

Two years ago this month, at the age of 11, Joyce knocked in his highest Cuestars break of 73 in his third Gold Tour event in Woking.

The teenager thanked his sponsors, The Academy in Basingstoke and Surrey-based Falcon Pools, and his mum Mel and dad Eamon for their support over the years.

Anthony Rice (Fordingbridge) recorded the day’s highest break of 73 in the group stages but dropped one place to third in the rankings. Lloyd leads Joyce by 16 points. Browne climbed to fourth and Steven Hughes (Chandler’s Ford) to fifth.

Home player Bradley Cowdroy moved up to sixth. The 14-year-old finished second in his round-robin group to Lloyd, edged Oliver Sykes (Chandler’s Ford) 2-1 on the final black in the last-eight but went out 2-0 to Browne in the semi-finals.

The sixth leg of ten is at Top Spot Snooker Club, Havant, on Sunday, February 5.

Pringle: my three ingredients for success

CHARLIE Pringle reckons three aspects of his game helped secure his second winner’s trophy on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Silver Tour.

The 15-year-old from Chandler’s Ford moved to within seven points of top spot after beating rankings leader Ryan Hughes 2-1 from 1-0 down in the final of the fifth leg.

Pringle leveled on the black and produced a 34 clearance to counter his 14-year-old clubmate’s 30 break in the decider at Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth.

He admitted it was a “difficult” contest but added: “It felt good to beat him because I’ve lost to him in the past in the final.

“I’m taking the positives out of it: clearances, being able to battle from behind and consistency throughout the day.”

Pringle, who increased his high break to 68 in the English Under-16 Championship qualifier in Clacton last November, had lost 2-1 to Hughes in the group stages but still qualified for the knockout in first place.

“I had a tough group but managed to come out on top,” he said.

The top two have now won all five tournaments this season. Hughes prevailed in Woking, Salisbury and Coulsdon while Pringle added the Bell’s Decor-sponsored event in Bournemouth to his success in Swindon in October.

Bowen Zhu, also from Chandler’s Ford, topped the second group and went out 2-1 to Hughes in the last-four. Pringle beat Drew Hampshire (Swindon) 2-0 in the second semi.

The sixth leg of ten is at Top Spot Snooker Club, Havant, on Sunday, February 5.

A moment to cherish for Riley

IT WAS a magic moment that a 12-year-old snooker player from Wiltshire had been dreaming about for 15 months.

Riley Ellis proudly held aloft his first winner’s trophy on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Bronze Tour after his success in the fifth leg.

It was journey that the young potter from Lyneham had embarked upon following an article in the Swindon Advertiser in May, 2015.

The story was spotted online by Southampton-based World Snooker coach Tim Dunkley, who contacted the newspaper and invited Ellis to compete on the Cuestars circuit.

Playing in his 13th tournament, Ellis edged home player Adam Cowdroy 2-1 in the final at Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth.

First-time finalist Cowdroy took the opening frame, went in-off the black in the next but was chasing snookers on the blue in the decider.

Ellis had knocked out travelling companion and rankings leader Shane Kearns 2-1 in the last-four after topping his five-man round-robin group.

He said: “I was really impressed that I managed to overcome some good players.

“Before I even came here, I wanted to win. It was hard work but definitely worth it

“It was really important (beating Kearns) because it’s been my target for a long time. I always lose to him but today I overcame that.”

Ellis, who is based at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon, along with Kearns, climbed to second place in the rankings following the Bell’s Decor-sponsored event.

Dunkley said: “I’ve been working towards this moment with Riley for 18 months.

“All the hard work and heartache that has gone before was worth it.

“It takes courage to be able to cross the winning line for the first time. It’s a step into the unknown for most of the lads. But I was thrilled to watch him take that step in Bournemouth.

“Julian and Jackie, his dad and mum, must be bursting with pride.”

Earlier, there was a dramatic finish to one of the groups. Essex lad Thomas Saunders lost his first two matches and needed to beat Ellis and Chloe White, winner of the third leg in Swindon, to force a three-way play-off for the second qualifying spot.

Saunders produced the goods against the high-flying pair and then won the play-off against White (Havant) and her brother Callum before going out 2-1 to Cowdroy in the semi-finals.

The sixth leg of ten is at Top Spot Snooker Club, Havant, on Sunday, February 5.

Plate victory consolation for high-flying Chloe

CHLOE White warmed up for the Eden Women’s Masters at Cueball Derby this weekend with victory in the Plate competition at Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth.

The 15-year-old from Havant suffered a shock group-stage exit in the fifth leg of the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Bronze Tour sponsored by Bells Decor.

Essex lad Thomas Saunders lost his first two matches and needed to beat Riley Ellis, the eventual tournament winner, and White, winner of the third leg in Swindon, to force a three-way play-off for the second qualifying spot.

Saunders produced the goods against the high-flying pair and then won a dramatic play-off against White and her brother Callum.

White bounced back in the Plate to beat Ally Pollard in the final.

Is this the best snooker trick shot?

More than one million people have watched a snooker trick shot set up across a bar in Bristol, after it was shared on social media. Is this the best snooker trick shot?

Are high deflection cues better when you are in the balls?

Being able to move the ball around more in a tighter space can give you lots of options but as the majority of shots should be in a smaller space isn;t this the priority over a stiff cue and the odd long shot to get you in?

Everyone has a tempo that they need to match to the cue to accommodate throw so surely a high deflection cue is more important?

I say this with tongue in cheek but interested to see why it's not a higher focus than a stiffer cue....

Sex change

No not me (yet!!).

In a local pool league a guy recently had a sex change after years as being classed as transgender. He/she played for a team and all was well.
Now in competition knockouts instead of entering as a man and hence playing in the men's competition, he/she now enters the the ladies comp!!
Just curious do you think that's fair? Won the ladies title last time out but when in men's was out in rounds 1 or 2. Harsh on the ladies that were born ladies.

I personally disagree as if Anthony Joshua had a sex change hardly fair he could enter Olympics as a female competitor!!!

I contacted some friends of mine and asked them if they aware about different STAR table models than the tournament model but no one know.

Is anybody here ever saw / heard about those models? are they genuine? if so, what are the differences between them and the tournament model?

Any answer will be much appreciated

Best Regards
STAR table, Do they have few 12ft models?

Falconry

It's a basic title, but have any members on here flown birds of prey. I've trained falcon hybrids to the lure as well as Redtails and Harris Hawks. Are there any falconers on here, it's massively popular in the Middle East

Mdf Lockers

I have been trying to find some snookers lockers for our club for a while and have found someone who does Mdf lockers on Facebook.

Does anyone have any mdf lockers in their club as I would like to see a picture of them in place to show our committee so I could get things moving and order some if they look ok.

What is this white stuff?

Noticed this in quite a few parris cues and it seems to mainly occur after a refinish that the ebony becomes bunged up with white particles. Its noticeable in quite a few of the pics on this listing. Is this just wax being caught up in the grain of the ebony or bad finishing work?

Cue suggestions

Hi Everybody!

Am in the market for a cue. As I mention before as a low level player I don't want spend a lot of money just yet Up until I become a more solid player. With that said, I would like to share with everybody What I'm looking for so if anybody can help or advice, much appreciated!

I'm 5.7 - 1.73 cm high -so i guess 57" length should be ok - if not please advice
I like the cue to be heavy , i can play and pot way better with a heavier cue, so at least 19.5 oz dare to say 20.5 to 21 oz . Again open to advice or suggestion
I would like the tip to have soft touch, especially with a heavy cue and up to 9.5 tip size
Finally I like 3/4 joint cue and not looking for veneers and extra designs !Like to keep it simple! Most important don't want to spend more than £100-£125 pounds- If anybody can suggest and advice on alteration on what i wrote above very much welcome as well as any cue makers or suppliers that can provide what i wrote above!

Thank you

The Champions Way - Steve Davis coaching video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2HBrfDJ6n0

Apologies if this has been posted recently. First time I've watched this... Strangely I've never bothered watching a coaching vid before; it's quite lengthy but was a nice refresher for me and I even learned a couple of new minor tips from it. Steve has a great knack of explaining things concisely and in very simple terms.

I particularly enjoyed the simple basic advice at 31:00-36:00min - 1. Emphasise Pause at backswing 2. Concentrate on object ball 3. Strike confidently 4. Keep your head down and totally still all the way until ball is pocketed

However, after watching it and going for a quick practice session, I played horrific - mainly because I was focusing on Davis' emphasis on looking at the object ball on delivery!

I don't know what I do naturally. My sighting process and cue ball-to-object ball sighting/feathering is all subconscious and natural. I've never given it a second thought... Up until this point I can't 100% say I look at the object ball at strike, although I surely must do otherwise I'd miss every pot.

Has anyone found they play worse after watching a coaching video for the first time?

Over the last year I've only been playing once every three weeks, but I've now got three whole weeks off work before starting a new job, so for the hell of it I'm going all out and going to put in table time every day for at least 2 hours a time. See where I end up...

What does rule Sec 2.17(3) mean in a frame?

Section 2.17 Snookered
(e) The cue-ball cannot be snookered by a cushion. If the curved face of a cushion obstructs the cue-ball and is closer to the cue-ball than any obstructing ball not on, the cue-ball is not snookered.

Is this just a definition, i.e. the cue ball is angled, rather than snookered?
