getting used to a new cue

Long story short

I have changed from and 8mm tip to 9.5mm how long should it take to get used to it with the diffrnt reactions to side and stuff

Iv not put enuf practice in with it myself i no i should go up the club and just keep knockin balls about that would be a start any one got any sugestions or ideas or is it just a personal thing
