My dad and his usual tip argument!

My dad is getting on a bit now. But in all honesty pulls the shots out. Don't know how he does it. He plays with a riley tombstone cue. With a bob akers joint. His argument is the old blue diamond tips are softer than the new ones. He also says the elks are harder than what they used to be. I've hunted high and low for old tips but can't seem to find any. Thoughts from the older members who have used the older tips would be appreciated.
